Job Description
As the Career Academy Coach, you will provide leadership and support for the implementation and sustainability of the School District of Beloit's Career Academies. The Career Academy Coach will focus on college and career readiness for all students, and this will be achieved through a strategic, collaborative system among the District, business/industry partners, community organizations, and post-secondary institutions.

Duties and responsibilities
  1. Acts as a liaison among staff, leadership, and District in the school for developing and sustaining the Career Academies.
  2. Acts as a contact person for business and community engagement to drive successful and sustainable Career Academies.
  3. Under the direction of the Director of Career, Technical and Alternative Education and building leadership creates a five-year Academy plan to drive results that support District goals and equity initiatives.
  4. Builds and fosters relationships with community agencies to create, promote and maintain partnerships for the Career Academies, as well as attends community networking opportunities.
  5. Provides professional development and training in relation to career academies.
  6. Serves on a master scheduling team, which monitors and updates scheduling of students for proper placement in career academies.
  7. Attends leadership meetings to provide support for implementation of and sustainable career academies to increase student attendance, reduce student discipline, improve student achievement, and increase graduation rates.
  8. Coordinates with Teaching, Learning & Equity leadership to support problembased and integrated curricula with Career Academies to drive student achievement.
  9. Facilitates job shadowing, student internships, teacher externships, guest speakers, field trips, and other experiential learning experiences outside of the classroom.
  10. Acts as a liaison between administration and guidance counselors to create and sustain an advisor/advisee program for career academies, as well as intermediate schools' leaders to implement a transition plan with feeder intermediate schools.
  11. Maintains and analyzes Career Academy data results and presents to the School District of Beloit's Board of Education and/or other key stakeholders.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education.
  • Wisconsin Teaching License (Grades 9-12).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Education
  • 2-3 Years of demonstrated experience of transformational leadership in a high school or educational setting.
  • Bilingual

Working conditions
Position is located in a school building. Work will be performed primarily at an assigned school campus.

Physical requirements
Continually traversing corridors. Occasionally in a stationary position, sitting or standing, for up to 4 hours. Operates office equipment. Frequently lifts/moves/carries objects or students up to 60 pounds. Frequently must position self to heights under 3' by stooping or squatting. Understands complex problems and explores alternative solutions. Organizes thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology. Constantly works with others; must converse and be understood verbally and in written form. Occasionally must subdue forceful students by using non-violent intervention methods.
