Job Description

Our Ridgeview Heights Maintenance Department is looking for some help this summer!


Schedule: Monday - Friday

Hours: 8AM - 4PM

Hours per week: 37.5


  • Position Summary:
    • The Maintenance I (Ridgeview Heights) shall be responsible for the work duties and the projects assigned. All duties and projects shall be done according to applicable codes and hospital policy. The Maintenance II/Ridgeview position requires staff members to be capable of performing the duties listed below, as part of their position's description. These staff members shall meet the below listed qualifications and performance standards by either formal education or on the job training.
  • Job Relationships:
    • Reports to Director of Environmental Services and Assistant Director of Environmental Services; Collaborates with VP of Support Services (Ridgeview Heights), all coworkers of the Maintenance Department, and all other departments of the Medical Center.
  • Primary Customer Served:
    • No direct patient care.
  • Education and Training Required:
    • High school graduate, trade school experience.
  • Experience:
    • Previous maintenance experience helpful.
  • Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Willing to accept conditions of employment.
    • Ability to tolerate considerable walking, standing, heavy lifting and high temperatures.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Physical Demands:
      • Occasionally sit at desk.
      • Continuously stand to perform tasks.
      • Continuously walks to various tasks, conducts visual tours and/or inspections.
      • Frequently lifts up to 75 pounds of materials such as tools or repair parts.
      • Occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds.
      • Frequently pushes/pulls up to 75 pounds of force when moving carts and other equipment.
      • Occasionally pushes or pulls up to 100 pounds.
      • Frequently carries up to 50 pounds.
      • Occasionally carries up to 100 pounds.
      • Occasionally requires lifting overhead.
      • Frequently requires using fine motor skills for operation of power and hand tools computer keyboard and telephone.
    • Sight:
      • Continuously provide visual acuity with correction to 20/40 to read written materials and operate equipment and vehicles.
    • Cognition/Communication:
      • Occasionally requires communicating effectively with other staff and customers using hearings kills, comprehensive speech, simple writing, and simple reading skills.
      • Occasionally communicates using various methods available: telephone, paging, email, print or in person.
      • Occasionally requires simple math skills in working with blue prints and other plan documents.
    • Environmental Conditions:
      • Continuously work indoors.
      • Occasionally works outdoors.
    • Potential Hazards:
      • OSHA Blood Borne/TB Classification Class II - Occupational exposure to blood and Other Potentially Infectious Materials (OPIMs) is not reasonably expected to occur in routine performance duties.
    • Psychological, Situational, Functional Factors:
      • Frequently use flexibility in prioritizing, changing and performing assigned tasks.
      • Occasionally overtime, rotation or split shifts are required, as the facility dictates.
      • Frequently requires using appropriate interpersonal skills when working with others.
      • Continuously works with speed, consistency, and accuracy.
      • Occasionally have the ability to work alone effectively under stressful situations.
      • Occasionally have the ability to problem solve and analyze.
      • Occasionally manage conflict/difficult situations.
